Controversial statue

‘A Real Birmingham Family (2014)’ is a statue by Gillian Wearing, erected outside the central library in Birmingham’s Centenary Square. It has been quite an opinion-divider.

Thank you for the link, Lesley. I read it. What a great project! It's good to think outside the box (imo). I like the sculpture, too!

Interesting piece. Well it's based on an actual real Birmingham family so not sure what the fuss is about 🤣

Such a beautiful and interesting sculpture. And it is what is. A sign of the times.

I think boys need male role models, but if they're going to be bad role models, they better not be there. Such couples are a challenge for us and we are afraid of certain consequences. But if love is there, it will probably overcome all difficulties.

Great statue. I actually thought it was a gay couple and their children until I read the article

When I first saw this I thought they were a gay couple (personally no problem with this). I read the link and saw they were single parents and sisters. Modern life.
