This fountain (which has a twin on the other side of the street) is situated in front of the main building of the university where I had my Russian class today. The two fontains have been built in the middle of the 19th century by Friedrich von Gärtner, who modelled them after the fountains in front of St. Peter in Rome. They are not identical with those in Rome, though.
In the back you can see St. Ludwig, the university's church. In there is the second biggest altar freco of the world.
Comments and suggestions are much appreciated!

Update 05/2019: Year 3 begins! I'm living in Bremerhaven near the North Sea since October...
What a beautiful composition! And I love the muted tones accented with the turquoise color of the fountain. I can imagine it's quite a gathering spot in warmer weather when the fountain is running.
Thank you so much for the fav and follow, Marie. So sweet of you! :)
@janetb thank you, Janet! Yes, indeed, in the summer everyone is sitting there on the grass. I think I can post a picture a few month ahead from now :)
