Our little prep children are supporting each other as they work out what it means to "parade" their costumes. I love all the varied expressions on their little faces.
Each year The QCWA nominates a country to study for the coming twelve months. This year East Timor was chosen. The culminating activity for the year of research is International Day.
Our local branch celebrated today. Following tradition, we focus on the children in the local schools. They compete in a range of set activities related to the country. The beginners colour a picture. The juniors create an image of a native animal of the country. The middle school designs a poster advertising the country while the upper school children do a handwritten information project and a computer generated project.
Today their entries were judged during the morning and then the students arrive around midday with their family and friends to parade their costumes, share the Timorese luncheon provided by the QCWA women, present other items they had completed as part of their studies and generally celebrate the learning undertaken.
There are around forty children in our three little one teacher schools and about forty family and friends came today to support the children. I believe a great day was had by all.
Very colourful, our CWA up here have disbanded due to lack of numbers thisw year. What a shame as I always enjoyed their International day lunch, I will have to come down for the B.V. lunch next year. Do you know what country they are studying.
