At this time last year we were sailing through the Gulf of Oman enjoying a Bombe Alaska aboard the Dawn Princess.
We'd just spent a day in Muscat, in Oman amazed at the city that over the centuries has been hewn out of the rocky landscape and one in Dubai. Instead of touring the city and its wonders of the modern world we'd chosen to behave like children and took a wild 4WD ride over the sand dunes in the desert, followed by a camel ride and belly dancing display. It was the hottest day but so exciting and so different from anything else we'd done to date and we really got a feel for what desert living would be like.
