We are moving irrigation pipe one by one across the lucerne patch again. Each morning, I look with envy at our neighbour as he pulls this big reel of hose to a new position. It is attached to an irrigation system that is automatic and takes 12-24 hours to travel across the farm depending on his settings. The hose is fully extended to start and the system is gradually wound back on to the reel as it travels across the farm putting out fine misty sprays of water and creating vast acerages of green with minimal effort.
