G is for Gladstone

Gladstone is our service centre and closest town. It is the city where five generations of our family have now been born. It is a port city and undergoing major growing pains at the moment as the gas industry undertakes refinery developments across the harbour on Curtis Island. Our local paper, The Gladstone Observer, did a wonderful 2 page spread on our family reunion in their Weekend Magazine and this wedding photo of an uncle and aunt was on the front page.
What a charming picture. Love your POV.

Family roots--so nice! In the United States, many people have no idea beyond the second generation.

I love old photos and it must be exciting to see one from your family history gracing the cover of a newspaper!

Oh what a wonderful shot, I have so few old photos (my mum says I wouldn't be interested and there aren't even any shots of my paternal grandparents-who I never met-). They look so smart and proud!

I love these old wedding photos - the bouquets and dresses are beautiful and in most cases home made. It must have been some family gathering!

@jan11 Uncle Tom even held what appears to be a large white handkerchief carefully pleated in his right hand . I'm not familiar with this quaint little custom. And our reunion was a wonderful weekend. Everything went to plan and brought many joyful reunions.
