Not great photos but I am posting them because I find this behaviour interesting. When it started to rain this afternoon all the cockatoos hung themselves from the trees, wings spread, as if they were having a shower. I have always thought they were playing but my zoom lens does suggest my hypotheses could be right. They may have been showering. As they sat preening themselves when the rain eased they all appeared to have dirty brown water on the ends of the white feathers.
What an interesting phenomenon. I agree with Jane, and even if they weren't stellar photos, the post is interesting on it's own. I think your new lens is going to show us more things we've never seen before.
Oh wow. This is amazing. I'd love to see a bird hanging around like this. The humming birds do sit on my fence and bath in the rain. Wonderful shot Margaret. Happy New Years.
