My good friend @jyokota and I have been paired as get pushed partners this week. She has challenged me with a very difficult task, namely:
"What inspires you to be a teacher? How can you capture an image that portrays your feelings for what drives you to work hard to do your job well?
Today was my first year Japanese students' writing exam. They had to write a short 3-paragraph self introduction. Here is one student intensely concentrating on his essay. What I see is "how cool that last September they didn't even know one Japanese character, let alone write them in an order to spell words in such a way that 125 million people on the other side of earth living on a rather small island chain can actually understand what my students have written." It's pretty cool. They turn this paper in with such pride on their faces, and I'm so proud of their accomplishments. I so remember how this feels.
Really great shot!
