Macro series alert...this is a close up of a screen made of woven reeds from Japan. It's from a summer I spent up in the north island of Hokkaido back in 2002. This beautiful screen was made by inmates at a prison as a part of their transition to civilian life post-incarceration.

I like the contrast of light and dark, texture and smoothness.
