Every now and then something good and totally unexpected happens and often you can't explain it. Such is the case of these Rose of Sharon flowers. I had a bush come up voluntarily and when it bloomed it was solid white. I liked it but I wanted more color in that spot. I even wondered if there would be a way to graft on some colored limbs, and then with no help from me, another bush came up form the roots of the white flower and they were this color.
