Okra

This is the one vegetable that we planted this year the squirrels didn't bother. If the flower reminds you of a hibiscus it is because they are of the same family. Okra is used for gumbo but we perfer it breaded and lightly fried. It is a a great source of fiber and has cholestrol lowing properties.
This is pretty! I have never seen the Okra flower. I think i have to visit our backyard more often so i can catch their flowering stage. =)

Don't forget Okra-cola! Just kidding. Great shot. Not too often you see Okra featured. When I lived up North, okra was in the exotic vegetable section of the Giant.
