It is the time of year to begin caning out the old berry vines and tying up the new canes for next year's fruit. I have not started yet, but was looking them over today and noticed this little hummingbird nest. There inside was a tiny little egg with the yolk showing. It makes me wonder why it didn't make it.
@paintdipper for some reason, humming birds love to use raspberry bushes for their nests, I always seem to find one there...their nests are so tiny...about the size of my cupped hand and their eggs are the size of a large jellybean...so sweet!
@lindag I have a collection of bird nests, so was pretty excited to add another one...especially with the egg in it...only wish it was an empty egg

I had to get after 3 little girls at a pond today for picking up geese eggs and throwing them in the water!!!!!!! I thought i was going to die when i saw them doing it and thier parents didnt even tell them not to do it! so i walked around the pond with them and explained exactly why we dont do that!! I hope it sticks! This is an awesome shot! Love the tones and textures Vicki! Beautiful Capture! :0(
A great shot! Good focus and DOF. But, yes, it's sad to see this. Like Cathy, I hope that there are those that made it and are flying and happy somewhere. 8)
