My grandson wants to play the trumpet this year at school. He came over to pick up a trumpet that I borrowed from a friend. He was really excited to see it, he held it, rubbed it, put it together, but he was a little embarrassed to play it. The rest of us went about visiting and eating when I realized that Joshua had disappeared...with the trumpet. I listened and followed my ears out to the deck where I could see down to the swings where he was learning how to make it sound. Not the most focused shot because my zoom is not functioning right, and I didn't want to spoil the moment by intruding on his privacy so I worked quick and disappeared again.
One of my boys was interested in the trumpet. I wasn't sure I could handle the noise of the learning process, but it sure is fun to watch them develop new talents!
@anazad511@kerristephens@yonnie@rach_who@mstipe@kdei@julie my three kids all played an instrument in school...oldest son played trombone, middle son, the trumpet and french horn and daughter played the flute. I always loved those sounds...even when they were new and it was horrible...and it amazed me that they actually learned it and improved. I never learned an instrument and it was just a foreign language to me. My grand daughter now plays piano beautifully and now he is learning trumpet. Today his little sounds brought back such fond memories as he fumbled around with it.
It's great that he's discovering a new instrument to play! Music is so good for the soul. I wish I could play an instrument. Great shot, Vicki, and I hope he has a wonderful time with his new passion. 8)
Great shot ..my son played trumpet in school also...then switched to drums then to bass guitar..I miss his little band he had in high school and their practices we had at our house!
What a sensible lad he is , we all need a bit of privacy when doing something new! Love the way he is perched on that swing. I hope he decides he wants to learn & then gets great enjoyment from his music.
l agree with Ana ...l thought he was your son - l love it when kids take an interest in music, a special time l had as a parent one time was when my daughter was in her room playing her flute and my son was out in the lounge playing the piano ...l loved listening to them!!
That story reminded me of what it is like to be that age....you don't want to learn new things and look dumb in front of others. And I played French horn and mellophone and loved band...so this shot touches my heart...
@wannabe yeah, I was sad it didn't last...all three of my own kids played an instrument and I was hoping the grandkids would too. My oldest grand daughter plays piano...but so far that is all...but the youngest 4 are too little yet...we will see
