On 30 June, I posted a photo of this little river meandering through the forest: http://365project.org/vignouse/365/2014-06-30 Here's the same river tonight just 17 days later and even the bottom has dried solid so that I could walk along the river bed without sinking in the mud. I take solace in the knowledge that when the storm, which must follow this unusually hot spell (36C today), arrives - the river Aff will once again gurgle and tumble over the stones in its bed.
@tosee the Aff passes through private property which is fenced off and has locked gates: I always wondered what was there... now I know ;-). Not an official drought yet because of the very wet winter, but it can't be far away if it goes on like this.
Are you in a drought?
Amazing how fast the river bed dries up...........stay cool!
