Get Pushed 107: Burning Bush

My Get Pushed partner for this week, Joy @jocasta , said: " I don't think I've seen a photo (in your project) which has fire or flames - so how about that for this week?"

Graeme @graemestevens, who is a specialist in these matters, has been encouraging me to set myself on fire, but I've decided to start more modestly with a biblical theme...

(Looks more dramatic viewed against black.)
@jocasta Hi Joy - well here's a first try for the challenge you set me... I hope it's a step in the right direction! I'm not sure what Mrs S will say in the morning when she sees the burnt remains ;-)

Waw that's beautiful! The dynamics if the flames. Great colours too. I need to check out the exif on this.

it's very beautiful - very attractive

This is just superb, and against the black it really looks amazing. It's a stunning flame capture and I love the way you've caught the details of the flame as well. What did you use as an accelerant or was just will power?

@graemestevens Thanks Graeme... praise from the Master Pyro - woo-hoo! Here's the story: I have been scratching my head over what to do for this challenge and then tonight as dusk was falling, I decided that I should prepare my tools for tomorrow when I will be part of a team of volunteers who look after 2 hectares of parish gardens. My job is to trim 600 metres of hedging so I thought I had best mix up a fresh can of two-stroke mix for my hedge trimmer. The can still had a little stale fuel left in so I went to pour this on the gravel at the side of the lane before burning it off. The place where I went to tip it has (had!) a bush with yellow flowers growing nearby - you can guess the rest...

I'm feeling rather guilty that I might be responsible for the demise of that little bush and its tiny yellow flowers. I knew your creativity would 'spark' something great. Wonderful licking flames. Happy hedge trimming, tomorrow.

@vignouse It's a superb result. I have used diesel in the past, but you you have to watch the vapours...as the hair on my legs can attest!

@jocasta Those 'tiny yellow flowers' are (were!) about 2.5" in diameter - this is (was!) not a small bush!

Interesting shapes and colours in these flames! Hope you had a fire extinguisher handy!
August 7th, 2014
@vignouse blimey - those are (were!) enormous flames.

Love the colors and the definition of the flames!

Beautiful colors and detail

I like the way the purple got in there. I did fire yesterday too.

Amazing colours and movement. Great shot.

Wonderful shot, fav

I like it, especially the purplish flames. Also looks awesome against the green.

A cracking shot Richard - remember though don';t play with fire

@vignouse, @jocasta, @graemestevens. IMHO pyroSayermaniac has done me a great favour albeit in quest of flaming edge photography. For me, yellow flowers in Summer win no high scores (except roses) so the flaming demise of a full blown, 1st class weed was a joyous event. Shame about the bald hand.

Good capture

A very brave attempt. I draw the line when it comes to fire. I an sure the condo police would have me arrested should I ever attempt anything like this.
August 8th, 2014
wow! it looks great!
August 9th, 2014
did you wife know about this?
August 9th, 2014
