This is for Tricia @trishaclancy , my get-pushed partner for last week who challenged me to show some aspect of the preparation of French food. I chose to interpret the challenge in a somewhat quirky manner, so she never actually got to see any food.
To make up for it, here is a photo of my entrée for tonight's dinner - a tomato salad:-
- Thinly slice a large ripe tomato and arrange on a plate
- Season with freshly ground black pepper and rock salt
- Sprinkle with chopped garlic and drizzle with virgin olive oil
- Top with a freshly plucked sprig of basil
- Eat with freshly baked crusty bread
@lleo Hi Gwenllian - thanks for your comments. The Nex 6 is a nice little camera - I bought it new at half price as it has now been superseded by the A6000, and I found the Sony/Zeiss 16-70mm f/4 in Hong Kong at 30% off delivered and duty paid - it arrived in 3 days. I'm now saving up for the Sony/Zeiss 10-18mm f/4 to go on my Nex 7 - the two cameras together will make a very compact, lightweight, versatile and easy to carry around alternative for when I don't want to tote around the full-frame Nikons. I'm impressed with the quality of the image from the 16-70mm so if the wide-angle is as good, I will be very happy.
@anazad511 Bless you Ana and thanks for telling me, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also do 'sun' dried tomatoes in olive oil and herbs (they're actually dried in the oven) that are to die for. I'll see if I can do some of those whilst there are still decent tomatoes to be had!
I've spent the last 1.5 hrs going through months worth of your photos. I have enjoyed them so very much. Your composition is impeccable. Your B&W is refined and eye catching. The burst and contrast of color in this shot is EYE CANDY! Thank you for sharing yourself (yes, I believe your art is an extension of who you are) with us here. We are blessed!
@akirk Amy, you find me feeling somewhat humbled... and tired after fighting my way out from under a heap of Favs! I'm delighted that you have enjoyed looking at my images - I enjoyed making them. I'm sure I don't deserve this much praise but I can tell you that your comments today have made this old man very happy. Thank you for taking the time....
Richard, I saw a comment in one of your posts that said you lust after the Nikon D750. Me too! I've promised myself a nice new camera after I finish my studies at NYIP. At the moment, the two on my wish list are Nikon D4 (I will have to buy used) and the D750. It's a difficult decision when spending that kind of $$.
@akirk Personally, I'm not tempted by the D4; it costs a lot of $ most of which provide features I don't need - pro build quality, high fps shooting rate, etc although I like the low light performance. One answer would be to buy the D750 and the Df, have the best of both worlds and save money as well! Dreaming is allowed!
Ian
Great comp and FAV
