This is a view looking north from the top floor of an apartment block near to the centre of the city of Rennes, the capital of Brittany. This space was formerly allotments and gardens but when the ground was found to be polluted with waste from an old tannery that previously occupied the site, the city council agreed to let it return to nature. It has now become an attractive feature - a little wilderness in the middle of the encroaching urban jungle.
Very important this 'green space' in a city - we used to have a big one in front of us at a previous property and the Council decided to let the developers in!
Fantastic colours. What a lovely looking park. At least they figured out it was contaminated before they built. The idiots in charge of my brigade built a training college on an old abattoir. And didn't realise until it was too late. They wasted 32 million dollars, and had to build another one on a different site.
One of the parks but I enjoy going to was once a landfill and they had to clean it up because it had hazardous waste in it. Getting rid of hazardous waste is quite a project. I know this because it wasn't empty lot across the street from where I work and they were going to build condos on it but they ran into some hazardous waste that made everybody sick including me. Anyway I love your capture I love that it is gone back to nature and hopefully the ground will someday clear it's self. In the meantime it will prevent the urban jungle from encroaching more.
Fabulous use of the space. I prefer the wilderness to the urban jungle. We were in New York City in the spring. I couldn't leave fast enough, in spite of enjoying all the famous sites.
