Beautiful on black! This feels magical and hopeful. Quite lovely. Fav because of the way it makes me feel as well as how the floor of the forest is not distracting, which can be tricky. I'd like to try this technique!!
@kt8ird@aecasey Hello April & Kate - this is not selective colouring as such but the forest floor was covered in orange/brown leaves which distracted from the feel I wanted for this - well spotted Kate - so I desaturated the whole image by about 70% and then boosted the saturation and luminance in the yellow channel to restore the original colouring to the leaves. The effect was completed by two graduated filters acting in opposite directions. As you've noted, it does need to be viewed on black to appreciate the full benefit of the editing. Finally, thank you both for your kind comments.
Now this I totally relate to. The world as turned so monotone. Love your treatment because this is how it feels out there. Fun to see that even someone like you can try to go outside there norm. But still you do those little composition things like the leading curving line in the middle going back into the trees.
I love the way there is almost a path, but not quite. I'm glad I read through all the comments. I have felt the forest floor as completely overwhelming because the oranges are so ... orange.
@sissyaj Good observation Sissy - I was standing on the inner bank of a drainage ditch which borders this part of the forest and is about 4 feet higher than the forest floor.
