Boat Shed by vignouse

Boat Shed

This is the rather grandly named 'Base Nautique' at Paimpont. The building houses the kayaking club and summer visitors may rent a canoe or a pedalo here if they want to spend some time on the water. The main feature of the building is the roof: what you see is not perspective distortion... that's the way it is built.

I like it best on black...
Gorgeous shot with amazing composition. Great processing. Fav.

I don't believe you have any pictures of boats on the lake? Now I have a bad memory so I could be wrong. I'm just saying that this would be at the very a great shot for 365 days album. Dramatic bw.

What great textures throughout. Those looks like antique paddle boats.

Lovely..........I'm beginning to think you could take a terrible photo and make a thing of beauty of it!

I love the perspective. It is a wonderful photo.

I am enjoying the textures in the wood and the dramatic sky. This building has some drama in its architecture, despite its humble function. As always, you have processed it to its full advantage.

great perspective, and I love the B&W here.

What a wonderful building and a great shot of it. Definitely a photograph I wish I'd taken!

@essiesue Ah, Sue - you make an interesting point. I sometimes wish that what you say was true... but not really. You can make a photo look flashy and initially alluring with processing, but ultimately, unless the image is also technically and artistically sound its initial attraction will soon fade. It's true that processing is an integral part of my images but I have that in mind at the point of capture so that the final image is homogenous... or at least it is when I get it right, which isn't always! This is one of those that worked out, I think.

Great shot Richard, good POV, DOF perfect and B&W takes away the distracting colours and focuses the eye on the boat shed

I like the composition in this image. B&W is definitely attractive here. I like that the slight pathway leads the eye into and beyond the shed itself.

I have been awol over the weekend Richard and missed this. Just saw it on the PP. A fabulous shot in b&w, and so much interesting detail. I will add to your favs.

Fabulous, fav

Love the crispness of this b&w. Your monochrome images have a certain 'Sayer' quality to them that's easily recognized.

It has your signature all over it, Richard! Very nice.

@yrhenwr Thanks David - this was taken on the first outing with my new toy, a Fuji X-Pro 1.
