This is the bridge that carries the Lorient-Nantes express-way over the River Vilaine at La Roche Bernard. The arch has a span of 201 metres, the vehicle deck is somewhat longer. The arch is also a pedestrian bridge with two walkways on the outer sides of the vertical pillars - 140 steps up to the centre of the arch and 140 steps down to the other side... I counted!
This is a rather dramatic construction so I thought it deserved a dramatic treatment.
@dide I think "able to be used by pedestrians" is the right phrase Dianne as I'm sure the walkways are primarily for inspection purposes. It's a pretty steep scramble both sides of the river to get down to the foot of the bridge - they could easily fit gates, but they haven't, so they obviously tolerate ramblers.
@princessm Hi Decima - thanks for your comment and Fav. No, not a new camera, I've had it almost three years now and many of my images here have been shot with this camera, including every photo in the first month of my project.
@francoise The river is over 600 feet wide at this point Françoise and the bridge is obviously longer than that... but yes, the extreme w/a lens (10mm = 15mm F/F equivalent) distorts the perspective so much that it is difficult to judge. I was looking for drama over representative accuracy when I took this.
