Runt of the Litter by vignouse

Runt of the Litter

It happens often that I am attracted by something rather banal but I can't help going back and photographing it again and again. Eventually I exorcise my demons by posting the photo as my shot of the day. And so it is that today's post is a cathartic rendering of the spindly pine tree that stands tall and proud amidst its sturdier brethren!
How cool - such a struggle to reach the light.

Does the tree have any leaves to keep it alive? I like the tonality of the tree bark and the clouds! Fav!

@skipt07 Very few... but alive it is, which is why I find myself so attracted to it!

Trees are like people, sometimes they just fail to thrive. Despite its puniness, you have managed to make it the centre of attention. Lovely balanced image.

Excellent, love the sense of scale, even from the runt

Wonderful, how this "runt" seems to cling to life, against its sturdier brethren. Quite a compelling metaphor.

The devils that hang out in our heads. What is often amazing to me is the picture we hand just to be done with it finds such favor among our peers here while the picture that comes out as we wish falls down. So who do we post for?
