Today we moved futher south to Chinon, a favourite spot, and as usual, it was impossible for me to not feature the Chateau where Joan of Arc began her adventures. This view was taken from across the river, hence the dark foreground.
This place is on my bucket list. Joan of Arc, and so many others. Henry, Eleanor, their children.... dripping in history. A lovely shot, of this amazing place.
Hadn't noticed before the colored juxtaposed light reflections below the castle walls. They give (me) a sense of quirky playfulness and moreover a wry smile at this world heritage site. So much we don't know...and not necessarily a bad thing.
@rosiekerr. You're right Rosie, the château is steeped in history and it was on the 25th February 1429 - almost 600 years ago - that Joan met and recognised the Dauphin who was disguised as one of his own servants. During her stay in the château, her quarters were on the second floor of the tower on the right.
