Elegant Engineering - 1950s Style

Mrs S and I store our Camping Car/Motor Home/RV in an old barn which is no longer used for its original purpose but does make a handy storage place for those things you no longer need but can't quite bear to part with! Each time I visit, I'm fascinated by the things that I spot tucked away, including a number of old bicycles.

This one is a ladies cycle from the 1950's and has lots of wonderful styling details - just look at the scrolling on the chain wheel, the elegant design of the chain guard and the figuring on the mudguard.

I believe that this bicycle belongs to the mother of the two boys who own the bikes featured in my main PLAY album post for today.

@houser934 Thank you Kathryn but it's Mother Nature who needs to take the lighting credit - I just opened the barn door until it looked right!

Be wonderful to restore that bike?

@maggiemae Wouldn't it - I might ask... be a problem getting replacement tyres though as although it doesn't show in this image... they're red!

@francoise Thanks Françoise - I wanted an old fashioned feel whist still retaining crispness of detail. I processed the image in Silver Efex Pro to give me a contrasty B&W then imported this and the original colour image into PS where I blended them together to give the effect I was looking for. After a year of SOOC I'm looking to improve my rusty processing skills this year.
