For February in my PLAY project, I'm moving on from the Nikon f/1.4G 50mm lens to a Fujinon f/2.0 XF18mm APS-C lens - 27mm Full-Frame equivalent - thus effectively a 28mm wide angle... pictured here on the X-Pro1 although that may not be the only body that I use it on during the month.
Just as a matter of interest - this image demonstrates the use of an improvised background: the orange is the reflection of the out-of-focus lit lounge in the window of the darkened kitchen and the red dot is the out-of-focus clock on the oven! The black base is a tee-shirt laid on the kitchen counter!
Beautiful background/setting you've arranged. Great use of what you've got. I look forward to seeing your Feb use of this lens though I understand almost nothing about various lenses.
@domenicododaro I've not shot much with a 28mm - I've tended to shoot much wider for landscapes and the like or longer for more specific subjects where I wanted limited DoF to make the subject stand out. It being February though, I couldn't resist the lure of a '28' for 28 days!
A friend of mine has the X-Pro 1 which he mainly uses for portrait work. Thinks its the best camera he has ever had.The b/w portraits he gets with it are indeed impressive when printed large.
All of the X models which followed the X-Pro1 are, in principle, capable of producing better quality results but, as curious and silly as it might sound, Fuji enthusiasts talk about the 'soul' of the camera which influences the results. And then there's the Fuji glass of course!
I've got fewer than 2000 shutter releases on mine as I mainly bought it for the deal on the lenses packaged with it - the 18mm f/2, the 35mm f/1.4 and the 60mm f/2.4 macro... the price of the package was 25% less than the street price of the lenses alone! I intend to use it much more to see if I like the form-factor enough to spend some pennies on an X-Pro2 ;-))
