This is the east bank of the Nantes-Brest Canal at Châteaulin pictured this evening. This is the 'serious side' of the canal populated mostly by banks, the post-office and the town hall - the building in the middle of the image... you can just make out the clock tower.
@northy This side of the canal photographs nicely at night because of the newly installed high-power LED lighting; the other side is still lit by a mixture of sodium and mercury vapour street lights which come out as a garish yellowy orange. Couple this with tungsten lighting in the interior of shops, restaurants and bars and it becomes impossible to achieve an overall satisfactory colour balance.
