We're an extended commune of just 1675 souls but the community activities are worthy of a medium-sized town. This is the 5th year that the façade of the Abbey has been used for a laser projection of the story of the moon... each year the story has evolved and become more spectacular. I could post images for the next 6 months but this will give you a flavour...
Exactly what it's meant to be in this context...spectacular! All of Paimpont's residents consider themselves to be fortunate to have such a magnificent Abbey which attracts many thousands of visitors all the year round. The resultant revenue enables us to have services and amenities not usually afforded to a population of 1675 souls.
Beautiful - I love the laser light shows. Recently there was one on the cathedral where I used to live in Rockhampton (Australia) so it is something that is finding it's way around the world.
I grew up near Knock which is one of 4 places where it's claimed an Apparition has occurred , Fatima , Medjugorje and Lourdes being the others, Your picture has made me think how easy it would be to fake it today.
@jack4john Interestingly, the Abbaye was founded in the year 645 AD by St Judicaël who was Roi de Domnonée (the ancient name for this part of Brittany) and also a monk at nearby Gaël Abbey. He founded Paimpont Abbey, so the story goes, at the request of the Virgin Mary who appeared to him in a vision at the side of the lake. This, the third building on the site, was built in the year 1199.
