I mentioned yesterday that the Blue-Tits have a trick which only they can do - dive down to the bottom of the feeder, grab a peanut, turn round and climb back out again. The bigger birds can't do this because there is not enough room for them to turn round... I said.
This Great-Tit proved me wrong today by inventing a variation - he dived down to the bottom of the feeder, grabbed a peanut then engaged reverse gear and backed out again with his prize!
I never cease to be amazed at how they can adapt to ensure their survival... the Green-Finch was amazed too!
