Rennes , the capital of Brittany, like most big cities, has several large shopping malls. This is the mall in the district known as Colombier and like most malls it attracts its fair share of kids playing truant from school and homeless people with their dogs. Its a sombre prospect so I wanted the image to reflect that.
It seems a bittersweet image - on the one hand it shows life and playfulness, on the other something rather darker and menacing. Doesn’t look like somewhere you would choose to go if you didn’t have to. Super silhouetting.
