Paimpont 2018: Day 154 - Église Saint-Gurval, Guer
The exterior of this church constructed in the first part of the 19C gives no hint of surprise in store when you enter. The internal arrangement and décor dates from 1870.
Viewing on black brings out the richness of the detail...
The details look so much better in black... I bet the acoustic is very good (the speaker part is half round so the sound will be pushed foreward, excuse for my bad English haha)
VML especially as this was what I had in mind the last time I was in Guer. The congregation was coming out from Mass, I realised that it would be a little while before the church would be quiet again. Pushed for time, I didn't linger. Must go early whilst the East light is at its best.
Wonderful church, love the floor & beautiful decoration. I find it unusual to have a central aisle as the Catholic Churches in our area of Lancashire all seem to have two side aisles.
@happypat Most of the churches in our area have both a central and two side aisles, as this one does. For communion you approach the transept via the central aisle and return via the side aisle... it makes for free-flowing traffic!
