Our house is in the middle of farm-fields and this year our view has been even more restricted than normal as the maize plants have reached a height of over 3 metres. The maize was harvested this morning - this photo of the combine harvester just beyond our back hedge was taken from our kitchen... just to show you how close we are to rural life.
I do miss cornfields. We had giant corn when we lived in Illinois. It made a great barrier between our yard and the interstate a quarter of a mile away. Fabulous capture.
@k9photo Hi Kate, it's both - this is a variety of corn specially for animal feed. The whole plant including the cobs is chipped and turned into sileage for winter feeding dairy cows.
