Occasional Fence Post 37...

...I've not done one of these in almost 2 years.

This is a post close to us which still has an antique barbed-wire tensioner attached.

BoB natch!
A beautiful vintage quality. I'd never heard of such a tensioner before.

Lovely details. They seem so elaborate…I wonder if it is still used?

@ljmanning If you look carefully you will see that there is still wire attached but it's the thin wire of the electric fence attached to the metal stake that keeps the cattle from straying when they are put out to graze.

VML this apparently remaindered Fence Post…and am left wondering if there is any 'resonance' on the discs that might make an interesting sound…with your hitting stick?!

Neat stark look and great tones, textures

I wondered what that spool was. Nice view of the post and the field.

It is amazing how effective a thin strand of electrified wire can be at keeping animals in!
But then - you only have to touch it lightly once to realize why!

Cool!

Does it stay there all the time or is there fence work being done?

@k9photo It's a relic of the past - all that's needed to keep cattle contained nowadays is a thin strand of electrified wire... the cows learn quick - once bitten twice shy!
