A Year of Days: Day 19 - Manifestation des Routiers
Today Mrs S had an appointment with her neurologist mid-afternoon in Rennes. We set off at about 11.30am intending to take a friend to lunch before going on the hospital. Instead we found ourselves gridlocked for over 2 hours as a result of a demonstration by French lorry-drivers claiming a pay-rise. They simply blocked one of the main arteries into and out of the city and the exits from the ring-road so that nothing could move for around 10 hours. We managed to find a way through eventually and being the good friend that she is, Marie-Suzanne had prepared lunch for us instead of it being our treat. And we have to go back again tomorrow to see another specialist...
