A Year of Days: Day 64 - Two Flies and a Camelia Bloom
The day started with a heavy frost but by lunchtime we had wall to wall blue sky and bright sunshine... and the temperature was a heady 18C. The unseasonal warmth brought out all manner of flying, creeping and crawly things. These two flies with iridescent blue bodies were having a pollen bath in an overblown camelia blossom.
What an unusual and thus interesting shot! Certainly must be overblown as the blooms were pink. They look as 'happy' as pigs in... Don't (yet?) know the appropriate word to describe happy flies. We need to snaffle one.
