PLAY January - Nikon 50mm f/1.4G: Shadow Amaryllis by vignouse

PLAY January - Nikon 50mm f/1.4G: Shadow Amaryllis

Mrs S found a 3€ bargain Amaryllis in our local supermarket which, unusually, has a white flower - we've only had red ones before. It's very pretty but I decided to explore alternative ways of capturing its beauty!

This is for my PLAY project - you can read more about it in my profile - where I'll be using a different prime lens for each month of the year: in January it's the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G on a full-frame camera (the D610 today).

You can see a more traditional treatment in my 365 album post today: https://365project.org/vignouse/365/2017-01-25
I love the softlness of this shot.

Not sooc! All the better! VML your treatment of what promises to be a stunning 3 bloomed plant with multiple opportunities for 365.

Like how you give life to the petals in an alternative fashion.

Immediate fav -- great against the bokeh.

This is fabulous. I was late planting mine and it hasn't bloomed yet. It is white too. Now if I post a picture I have a lot to live up to.

I really like both of the amaryllis photos - this one is very dreamy and the red is very subtle and a lovely detail.

Beautiful! The black and white plant against the bokeh are great together.

Delicate beauty.

My favorite for the softness becuase of the noise in the flower and the blurred background.

I did a months with my prime (35 mm; 1.8 ) and close ups like this were the most pleasant surprise. Lovely.

Wonderful dof and light

I like this very much. The bokeh background lets the shadows pop out!

Gosh -- you even stopped down to f2; I thought this was on the ragged edge of wide open. Lovely shot.
