PLAY April - Fuji 27mm f/2.8: Étang Bleu... again!
The thing about the Étang Bleu is that the site is completely untouched so the vegetation is allowed to grow naturally and there are downed (and drowned) trees everywhere. This is perhaps 200 metres from the main road but it could just as easily be 200 kms. I find this site very peaceful and reposing...
This is for my PLAY project - you can read more about it in my profile - where I'll be using a different prime lens for each month of the year: for April it's the Fujinon 27mm f/2.8 on an APS-C sensor camera (today the Fuji X-T10) - the equivalent of a 40mm lens on a full-frame camera.
@houser934 Thank you Kathryn and you make an interesting point. This is one of two lenses in the Fuji stable - the other is the 18mm f/2 which are often much criticized. I haven't used this one much - or at all - before this month but, having an effective F/F focal length of 40mm makes it rather interesting. The 50mm is usually quoted as having the same field of view as the human eye but, in reality the effective focal length of the human eye is about 42mm... very close to this lens. That also explains why many photographers are very comfortable with both 35mm and 50mm focal lengths as they straddle the focal length of our natural vision.
I think that wouldn't explain though why you find this month's shots different as - unusually for me (and with the exception of the two Étang Bleu images) all my posts this month have been cropped. Effectively then the images have the perspective and the depth of field of a 40mm lens but with the field of view of a 80 or 100mm lens and that probably explains the difference you are seeing.
