Project 52: Week 16 - Fallen Warrior 2

This is my favourite large scale sculpture and it sits besides the N24 express-way from Rennes to Lorient at Ploërmel. The fallen warrior is in full armour and carrying his battled scarred sword; all that can be seen of him is his helmeted head and left shoulder and part of his sword... the earth has claimed the rest. The tip of his helmet is about 3 metres high and the tip of his sword about 6 metres high. This is an alternative view to that posted in my OCOLOY project on Thursday - http://365project.org/vignouse/ocoloy/2016-04-12 - and the one that I think presents this fabulous sculpture to its best advantage.

Best viewed on black I think.
i really like this warrior...the artist who made and installed it is very creative...i like creative...and you've captured it well...again... :o)

Love the light, shapes, cloud formations

Great composition and use of light. The lower angle uphill works well.

I need to look very carefully here, Richard, the wide angle lens (23mm is it on an APS-C body?) registers so much detail. But the shot is so interesting I am more than happy to spend time tracking down all the interesting pieces. BTW, as you can probably guess, I like the "no blown highlights/shadows" aspect. :) Fav.

You certainly know how to edit a good b&w shot! What wonders would you do in a darkroom?

@domenicododaro Thanks Domenico... well over 30 years since I was in a darkroom, but it's where my love of both B&W and processing started.

Gorgeous shot- the lighting is beautiful and I really like the lines created by the fallen warrior and other rocks.

Another great scene. I love the contrast of the fluffy clouds against the large dark sculpture.

Very much like this and appreciate Nature's contribution of heathers in the foreground and the watching brief of the trees and shrubs beyond.
