Interesting, Richard... the path and the figures lead my eye out of the frame, the curve of the bridge brings it back to the wider seen. Full marks for breaking at least one rule! I really like it.

VML the way the occluded light softens the shadows and gives a slight frisson. Also VML the cyclist with backpack booty and handlebar shopping bag fulfilling a practical and mundane task.

When I looked at this again in the cold light of day it seemed to me that the original crop was creating conflicting tensions in the image, as some of you hinted at. I've now re-framed it to remove the water on the left which didn't really add anything to the story - I hope those of you who liked it as it was will forgive me this edit.
