So, today I begun the first day of my thirties and I feel slightly strange. I don't feel like I'm 30. I had a fabulous barbecue with some of my nearest and dearest on Saturday (15 May) to celebrate what seemed like a momentous occasion in my life, but today just felt like another day. Isn't that always the case? But when I look back over the last decade, numerous major events have occurred; I finished my Degree and completed a Masters; I bought my first car (and now I'm on to my third after a couple of 'incidents'); I bought a house; and, I got my career on track on what I hope will be an upward trajectory over the coming years.
However, one thing has remained constant throughout the last decade, and that's my relationship with my better half. When I turned 20, Suman was my girlfriend of over a year, and she's now my fiancée. Every day I look at her at least once and still think "wow, she's so beautiful". It was her birthday just over a week ago and I bought her a bunch of flowers (something I don't do enough), and although some of them are starting to wither, ten days later they have stood up pretty well. So, what better way to start this project than a picture of a gesture of my adoration for the most important person in my life?
Cheesy? Yes, somewhat. But I almost forgot about this project today. I aim to take a competent picture every day over the coming year, but as the clock struck 11pm I realised that I had yet to take today's photo. My attempts at taking a photo of my good friend John Wynn on his bespoke Triumph motorcycle had ended miserably. But after numerous snaps of wilting flowers in various compositions, with the clock ticking towards midnight, I began typing about the previous decade and the picture seemed somewhat prescient. It'll not be the best picture from the 365 photos I'll take between May this year and next, but it does represent the gorgeous young lady currently in her slumber as I type.
I promise, there'll be very little sappiness in future posts, so please persevere! And let me know what you think of my photos!
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.

I think your flowers go so nicely with your commentary. I certainly feel we know a bit about you as well...Happy Birthday! I see you're using this as a journal, which many do, and I think you'll gathered interested followers. Don't worry about every day having to be a sensational picture; you'll find it won't always happen, but if you've made friends along the way here, understanding what's happening in your day keeps every offering interesting.
Welcome to the 365 project!
