I got laughed at for my shoot today. I had a workout and then showered, and after I got out I took quite a few photos of myself. As I was processing them, Suman started giggling from the sofa where she sat. I knew she would, which is why I tried to shield the screen as I was editing! It's funny; after being together for so long, I'm still embarrassed by stuff like this. I know I'll get some flak from others too!
Eventually the laughing stopped and I finished editing my photos. I settled on two images I quite liked as a pair, so I created a diptych.
Although I quite like this image, I acknowledge that it's a little narcissistic. I achieved the indescribable out-of-focus look that I wanted. I would have preferred to shoot somebody else, but at such short notice it's difficult getting a model to pose straight out of the shower! The first shot, in case you can't tell, is me looking in the mirror. In post-processing I increased the contrast and decreased the clarity, and lightened the exposure of the photo on the right.
A strong fog enveloped much of Nottingham this morning. I work somewhere that is surrounded by many open fields and farmland, so I only wish I had the time to take some shots on my way to work. It was quite beautiful. I'm going to keep an eye on future forecasts, as I'm sure there'll be an increase in foggy weather as the winter approaches.
By the way, today's shot is inspired by Valentina Angiuli's work on this site ( http://365project.org/elsun/profile). She does many diptychs and they're fabulous!
Semi-professional photographer based in Nottingham, England, I shoot mainly events and weddings. I'll be posting my work using my Fujis - X100S and X-Pro1.

Every time I think we have fog here, it turns out to be humidity. I like the shots - the second one in particular. It's cute that you're shy about this in front of her... My best friend makes fun of me for self portraits too :)
I refuse to do any of my artwork around others... I find it too taxing to try to explain the inner machinations of my creative core. I like how this turned out, at first I thought it was you looking in a mirror until I read your explanation. Excellent work.
Taking pictures of ourselves is not the easiest thing to to but when the inspiration is in front of us we need to grab the camera and run with it. That is a sign of a true photographer. So, don't be surprised when you see yourself on the popular page. This is great work!
Nicely done ... B&W portraits always say more than colour ... love the overall composition and lack of focus ... these two photos complement each other nicely :)
I love those!! They turned out so cool!! Like out of a commercial for a shampoo or something! Self portraits are so hard - I am also still a little embarassed when taking photos of myself! Your new profile pic - love it!
