I was minding my own business enjoying my surroundings whilst kayaking and suddenly I heard some expletives coming from this boat. As they tacked I think that the wind caught them and took them by surprise. I would expect such language from a salty old sea dog but not from someone sailing close to the shore in the respectable harbour of Emsworth.
@randystreat sailing close to the wind means using the wind to your advantage to get the boat to move faster. I am sure a sailor would correct me if I’m wrong. A discussion topic for a Thursday maybe.
