Bastion 5

This is in an area known as Hilsea Lines. See link.

There were 6 Bastions. Some have been repurposed but this one has been taken over by party goers and graffiti artists. It is overgrown and lots of detritus all around. Nonetheless it is a fascinating place to visit.
My Step daughter Lucy gave me an “educational tour”.
I must admit that I do love street art...well captured.

Great POV to show off this space.

I really like the contrast between the bright graffiti and the grey stairway

Interesting place and artwork. A bit mysterious too.

Lovely composition- the entrance does look a bit foreboding though

Don't be caught there alone at night!

You've shown the combination of heritage and modern so well. There's street art and there's graffiti - this doesn't seem to add much to the surrounds, except a social comment which is probably not very complimentary. Sorry about the long comment - but I hate seeing heritage areas unappreciated. :)

The graffiti only adds some bright color. Perhaps Lucy would have more to say on the subject that would unsnarl my lip.

I agree with Renee that it looks foreboding… good choice of words.

Wonderful pop art. With a little bit of cleaning this place could be awesome!

Interesting info in the link. A somewhat rundown area I’m thinking.

So grungy! What a shame it is not better preserved and cared for, but so interesting to visit.

@linnypinny @ljmanning @lizgooster @marlboromaam @rensala @grammyn @foxes37 @k9photo @robz @randystreat @kvphoto @corinnec @carole_sandford @casablanca @ludwigsdiana thank you all for your comments. Grungy /seedy are words that came to mind. The rest of this site and walkways were really well cared for. I am not sure why this area has not been maintained although there was evidence of some cleaning up recently.
