I hate the word “purple” (yes, odd, I know), so I quilted this with other purple words like plum and violet and then I imagined words for all the other colors in the quilt, including “camp canoe,” which for me is a particular shade of green that’s in the binding. Then today, in a weird twist of fate, I took the quilt with me to my weekly quilting picnic at the marina with my friend Marianne (because it was cold and rainy), and just across the parking lot was this stack of green camp canoes. Who would have figured?
