William, I love your local images from Italy. I lived in Sardinia for 3 years and truly loved it!! I just looked up your town on the map because I was curious about where you were. Now I'm really curious about a feature just a mile or two to the north east of your town. See the map link below. What is this? My guess chicken houses.

@twobicycles Hi Carl, nice to meet you! You've looked up Lucignano, not Lucignana. The village is in fact near Lucca and Pisa. I'm as puzzled as you about the supposed chicken houses!
