I'm back again - after a long period of Internet trouble, too much work and a spot of ill-health!
Also back again is the Ramsgate Tunnel. I put up a photo of the inauguration earlier this year but now it is enjoying great success as a tourist attraction, with tours exploring part of the old railway tunnel and other interconnected tunnels built as a World War II air raid shelter, able to accommodate the entire population of the town.
I went on a tour today and it is fascinating. Anyone visiting the area should certainly give it a go! It is truly unique.
The picture is how the train tunnel entrance originally was.
A great shot of a great idea to share this history. I'm just glad I didn't live in those times and have to go down the tunnel with the population of Ramsgate and his wife as I get claustrophobic. Hope you are feeling much better now.
This looks interesting - I occasionally get down to Thanet and may well investigate the tunnel. "Electric trains to Greyhound Stadium" - that's also interesting - when we lived in Broadstairs, my Mum worked at the greyhound stadium in the evenings!
