View of Edinburgh from the Castle.
It's not cheap to get into the castle, at £16.50, but well worth it for the views and the history!
The prison in particular has many strange tales to tell. Some of its inhabitants were sufficiently skilled to forge banknotes with which to bribe the officials (who, presumably, were rather thick anyhow...).
Here, to the left, you can also see the flowers in the "dog graveyard", where the dogs of soldiers were buried.
I had to read your story to remember the place. It is definitely worth all the money paid to enter. I remember very clearly the Mons Meg cannon on the ramparts. Beautiful capture of a wonderful city.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @sangwann Yes, and there were a few few cannon, which the tourists seemed to be particularly keen on! @thresheg Thanks very much Graham! @quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel! @pennystot I wonder when they started charging, then! When was it you went? @bobhuegel Thanks very much Bob! if you ever visit Edinburgh again the Castle is certainly worth a visit (preferably early when they first open...!) @ivan Thank you Ivan! Have you been too?
