I've never heard of pique assiette before I went to Catalina. I just thought it was mosaic but turns out it's a more specific form of mosaic. There was a lot of it in the galleries to buy. I loved this flower pot but it was too heavy to ship home. I'll just have to take up pique assiette myself.
What a charming and satisfying artform this is! Without knowing it, I used a favorite broken coffee mug to create the design for our house number; since then, I always wanted to do more! I see you're Cathee's friend and traveling companion! I know it immediately when I saw the watercolors and Catalina at the same time! I may also fave all your photos because I love it there as well!
@Weezilou Thank you, Louise. So nice to meet you. I have been doing 365 for nine years but keep a very low profile. I will have to check out your project. Cathee is a dear friend (as a matter of fact, I introduced her to 365) who invited me to accompany her to Catalina. I am so grateful to her. We had a wonderful time. I’m glad you enjoyed my photos.
@yogiw Funny what you can eventually sleuth when reading captions under photos! Seeing how long you'd been here, I thought perhaps it had been you who introduced Cathee to this site! And isn't she just front and center there now?!
