Night Flowers by andycoleborn

Night Flowers

This flowering shrub in my parents garden is completely covered on these yellow flowers, as it is each winter, before dying back in spring to be replaced by rather boring green leaves...

Not sure what it's called, but it does add a splash of colour to the garden at this time of year...

Took this photo as I returned to my parents after getting some shopping for them after another trip down to Hampshire to watch Portsmout take on, and beat Sheffield United this afternoon... That's 6 wins on the trot, and 6 clean sheets in a row... Surely we can't make the play-offs??
On my iPhone screen I thought it was loads of legs until I zoomed in.

I only know three yellow flowering winter plants. Witch Hazel. Winter Sweet and Forsythea and it is most likely the last. Check with Cherill.

It's a forsythia alright. And you're right Andy, after the flowers it does becaome a very boring shrub but sooooo suburbia!

I concur with the forsythia identification. I like the low light treatment here. It's a very dramatic shot.

@Cherrill - Oooh was hoping to pip Cherrill to the post but I'm way behind on photo catch-up - only because I discovered what these were on Sunday as I took loads of pics of them in the park - and I could have shown off my new-found knowledge ... Nice petal detail.
