Now this is not a great photo but I really like how you can see her profile. She is a Blue Triangle Butterfly (Graphium sarpedon), at least I think so but please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new at this. I rarely see these ones so I thought I was really lucky to shoot her at all. That's a white duranta she's about to land on.
Oh, she's just marvellous! I've been trying to capture a Ulysses with no success for years - next step is to plant some suitable food. Butterflies are trickier than one assumes - and to catch this one in flight was an impressive achievement. I love the profile, the curl of her antennae and the ever so slight motion blur on the wings. A fav here!
@microart Thanks so much Suse! The Ulysses is such a stunning butterfly, I hope you manage to post one. The Euodia is meant to attract them but I think I am too far west for them.
So pretty! I've had these ones fluttering around my garden but they're so fast and never seem to land! Wow, I just saw from PP that you can see her tongue! Thats awesome!
I love the color blue in the wing! You must be so patient to get these shots! I can't believe you think this isn't a great shot though....it's amazing!!
WOW - this is magical! How do you get the body so sharp and the wings with that lovely movement? I can't believe it's just luck. Talent, timing and lots of practise.
@enrggirl Thanks for the compliment Carol. I really enjoyed looking at your photos, it looks like you live in a lovely area. I like how you're documenting your days too.
@bobfoto It really was a lucky shot, I was lucky that my shutter speed was fast enough to catch her at all. I got two snaps and then she was gone.
fav'd
@geertje @chel That was what I liked about it too, the probiscus/tongue and antennae.
@poggy1818 Well, I liked it but I thought everything was a bit distracting, the foreground, background, blur of the wings...

Thanks so much, everyone's response was quite unexpected.
Big WOW to you.
