I was so thrilled to capture this last night! The storm started in the afternoon and I caught a few little strikes but after dark the lightning seemed to get even better. I stood and clicked and clicked for ages taking 30 second shots each time. This is from my back deck. I set my white balance in-camera to fluorescent (I think) and got this great colour. This would have to be my best lightning shot yet, I like how it is so symmetrical. Yay, we got some rain :)
Thank you all SO much for putting my little butterfly on the TT, you guys really are the best. If you haven't looked at the line up there yet you really should because there are some amazing shots.
Awesome by-hand capture! A guy I know has a flash detector he hooks up to a remote shutter release. I never thought you could catch lightning by observation! Cool!
@bella_ss No I really noticed it when we were on the Sunshine Coast a few years back ... the lighting was a lot more active... rain harder and then sun out and fine again...
Instant FAV. Amazing capture. I know how difficult it is to take a shot like this - I have tried it but didn't come a fraction to capturing a picture like this.
@skstein Thanks Sandy, as you get more favs on each photo, it's like the bar is set higher to achieve PP the next time. It's been worked like that to give everyone a fighting chance to be on the PP. It also takes into consideration the last time you were on PP because if I go away, usually when I return it is easier to get on the PP with fewer favs. That's where the Trending Page (for ace users) is good because your shot can be on there for many hours if it's getting favs. There are a few advantages to subscribing to ace, also the use of Picmonkey to edit photos.
@newbank@skipt07@jocee@lesip Thanks so much! It really was a lucky shot. I'm very fortunate to be able to stand on my deck and watch these storms.
I was also amazed by the symmetry Skip :)
Double congratulations on your two achievements - back to back TT and so well deserved! Love both of these images. The tones are amazing as is your capture of these twin lightning bolts. WOW!
Wow.!
I was also amazed by the symmetry Skip :)
@soboy5 Thanks again Danny, you're very kind.
Just saw it along with the other lightning shot on the TT. Fantastic Sheralee
