30 Days Wild - Day 21: Walthamstow Wetlands

Soon to be the new Walthamstow Wetlands, but still the plain old reservoirs at the moment.

Well today turned out to be the hottest June day since 1976 apparently. And didn't it feel like it I just felt so hot and lifeless all morning, I just couldn't get myself sorted to do anything in a total fit of rather uncharacteristic indecisiveness. J was around keeping out of the heat by studying.

Had breakfast in the garden then rested up in the cool bedroom after putting a wash on. Nearly managed to make a decision to go for a swim then decided against it. So played a few tunes before cycling off to do a bit of shopping.

Ended up going all the way to the marshes and having lunch in the Riverside Cafe - tomatoes on bruschetta. Quite a few people around, both cyclists and walkers.

Cycled back via Lidl then spent the afternoon under the umbrella in the garden in the very muggy heat and read and sorted out old magazines.

Dave got back with the news that he'd been offered the gardener job and we had pasta with tuna, cherry tomatoes and cavolo nero.

Looks lovely! Will it have a better status as a wildlife reserve - more protected - as the Walthamstow Wetlands?
